(See full resume for details).

The founder of Positron Media is Polly Washburn, a producer, writer and director.

Polly is currently taking the feature she produced, Shelagh Carter's beautiful first film Passionflower, to festivals. She is developing three other feature films.

In 2010, she was production manager on Guy Maddin's Keyhole and Hauntings. In 2009, she served as line producer on Danishka Esterhazy's first feature, Black Field, produced four short films, and was a producer in the NSI's Features First project development program.

In 2007-08, Polly was associate producer of season three of Bump! -- the popular gay and lesbian travel show that airs on Canada's OUT TV and around the world. She coordinated the 2008 48 Hour Film Project in Toronto, bringing the international timed film competition to Canada for the first time. She was selected by Women and Film and Television-Toronto and Deluxe as the 2008 Deluxe Producer Intern, and spent three weeks at Deluxe immersing herself in the world of post-production.

Polly is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s PrimeTime Television Program. While there, she collaborated with veteran producer Barbara Samuels in a three month story room to create a four-hour mini-series.

Polly has worked as a journalist, editor, legal researcher, public relations officer, and freelance writer and designer. She is the writer/director/editor of two 16mm films, an experimental black and white video short, a stop-motion animated short, and a music video. She served as assistant director and script supervisor on several Winnipeg short films.

Polly received funding through the National Film Board and Winnipeg Film Group to produce two of her short films; the Manitoba Arts Council to produce the first draft of a feature-length screenplay; the Winnipeg Arts Council to write a novel; and the Manitoba Writers' Guild to work with a mentor. Her poetry has appeared in CV2 and Lichen, and she was commissioned by CBC Radio for the 2006 Poetry FaceOff.

A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., Polly was born in Denver, Colorado. Polly has lived in ten states, three provinces, England and Poland. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College in Ohio.
